Shihui San (Ten Ash Powder) is a cornerstone hemostatic formula in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). First formulated by the renowned Yuan Dynasty physician Ge Kejiu and published in Shiyao Shenshu (The Classic of Ten Herbal Prescriptions), this prescription has been passed down through 12 generations over 670 years. The formula is meticulously crafted, with ingredients balanced according to the traditional "Monarch, Minister, Assistant, and Envoy" principles. The production involves ten carefully selected authentic herbs: Cirsii Japonici Herba (Daji), Cirsii Herba (Xiaoji), Nelumbinis Folium (Heye), Platycladi cacumen (Cebɑiye), Imperatae Rhizoma (Bɑimɑogen), Rubiae Radix(Qiangen), Gardeniae Fructus (Zhizi), Rhei Radix et Rhizoma (Dɑhuɑng), Moutan Cortex (Mudɑnpi) and Trachycarpi Petiolus (Zonglü Pi). Each herb is calcined under varying degrees of heat until charred yet retaining its medicinal properties. The resulting powder is taken with a mixture of white radish juice, lotus root juice, and ground Beijing medicinal ink.
